Duhok distributes 30,000 olive saplings to farmers for cultivation project

DUHOK — The Duhok Agriculture Directorate, in collaboration with the Human Appeal organization, said on Thursday it had launched a program to distribute 30,000 olive saplings to local farmers. Registration began Feb. 16 and will continue until Feb. 25.

Farmers from Amedi and Duhok districts with suitable land who pledge to cultivate and produce olives are eligible to participate in the program, according to the directorate.

Qualified farmers will reportedly receive five olive saplings each, along with an irrigation system and chemical fertilizers. The program also offers a two-day training session on proper care and production of olive trees.
