Nissan Institute holds dialogue on environmental and social justice in Basra

BASRA, August 19 — The “Nissan Institute for Democratic Awareness” organized a dialogue seminar on achieving environmental and social justice in Basra. The event was attended by officials from Basra with the aim of formulating recommendations to address the changes that have impacted the environment.

Falih Al-Amir – Director of the Nissan Institute for Network 964:
“The rising temperatures in Basra due to oil extraction have become evident to everyone. The city’s air is surrounded by oil extraction activities, which are affecting the province’s climate. Through this seminar, we engage decision-makers to establish immediate and practical solutions to curb pollution.”

Muhsen Aziz – Director of the Southern Region’s Environment for Network 964:
“We in the southern region support such seminars. We monitor all violations committed by oil companies in terms of emissions. While we impose fines on companies, we need to intensify efforts to reduce pollution across the country as a whole.”
