Fire contained in Erbil residential complex
Ankawa, Erbil – A fire erupted on Tuesday evening at the Harsham residential complex in Ankawa, causing extensive damage to one of the units. The civil defense team was alerted and succeeded in containing the blaze, which inflicted significant damage on the property.
Karwan Mirawdali, the spokesperson for the Erbil Civil Defense, told 964media that the blaze broke out on the fourth floor of the Harsham complex. An investigation pinpointed the cause of the fire as careless candle use during a family event. The fire originated in a section of the residence and rapidly spread throughout the unit.
Mirawdali also noted that a female occupant suffered from smoke inhalation. She received immediate care from the Emergency Unit 122, a rapid response team, which administered oxygen and stabilized her condition.
The investigation by the Erbil Civil Defense concluded that the unit suffered severe damage, but there were no fatalities.
The Harsham residential complex is situated in the northwestern section of Erbil, bordered by the Ankawa and Baharka areas.
