Preparations underway for commemorations
Organizers in Dhi Qar gear up for Arbaeen pilgrims’ arrival
NASIRIYAH, August 19 — Processional organizers in Dhi Qar are getting ready to receive Arbaeen pilgrims by setting up tents and preparing food and water along various routes stretching from Al-Chibayish district to Al-Tar sub-district, Souq Al-Shuyukh, and up to Al-Fajr district to the north.
Bassim Hashim, head of processions in Dhi Qar, told 964: “The number of processions participating in commemorations reaches around 2,000.”
“Over the course of five days, we will receive groups of walkers participating in the Arbaeen pilgrimage rituals. We are working in coordination with service departments to provide all necessary facilities for procession organizers during this period of service,” he added.
Alaa Abd, from the Savior of the Nation Procession said: “Every year, my companions and I provide service by setting up tents along the highway.”
“We have completed our preparations by providing the necessary cooking equipment and purchasing large quantities of water,” he explained. “In the coming days, we will witness a large number of visitors, which requires us to work tirelessly throughout the day to provide comfort and service for them.”
