KRG launches My Account initiative in Sulaymaniyah, Duhok

SULAYMANIYAH — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has officially launched the My Account project in the Sulaymaniyah and Duhok governorates, and continues its implementation in Erbil.

This initiative aims to digitalize the salary distribution process for over one million public sector employees, a process that began in September 2023.

The KRG’s Media and Information Office reported in mid-January that about 200,000 civil servants have already activated their My Account and received their corresponding cards.

Managed by the Ministry of Finance, the My Account website is a step towards transitioning the Kurdistan Region to a cashless economy.

The initiative’s main objectives are to streamline the salary distribution process for government workers, enhance financial security, and offer a variety of financial services, including savings accounts, to beneficiaries.

The KRG has outlined six major advantages for civil servants with the introduction of My Account:

  • Instant notifications of salary disbursement.
  • The capability to withdraw cash from any ATM
  • Access to a broad spectrum of financial services
  • Global operational functionality
  • Incentives for participation and referrals
  • Improved financial security
