“Attack happened outside Iraq, response shouldn’t be in Iraq”

BAGHDAD, January 29 — On the attack on the U.S base on the Syrian-Jordanian border that killed at least three Americans and the prospects of a US response to the Iran-backed militias in Iraq; a source in the Iraqi government told 964media that “the attack happened outside Iraq. The response shouldn’t be in Iraq.” The source speaking on the condition of anonymity because of the fast moving event added that “Any attack inside Iraq would run the risk of jeopardising the talks over HMC”.

The US and Iraq have been engaged in talks over the formation of Higher Military Council to discuss the timeline for the coalition forces withdrawal from Iraq.
