Calling all stakeholders
Al-Dawa Party calls for legislative action on removing U.S. forces
BAGHDAD, January 24 – The Al-Dawa Party has urged the government to engage in urgent dialogue with political parties, aiming for a parliamentary-endorsed legal agreement to set a timeline for the withdrawal of foreign forces.
The party’s statement condemned recent actions against Iraq: “The Al-Dawa Islamic Party expresses its condemnation of the repeated violations of Iraq’s sovereignty recently, with the movement of hostile aircraft in its skies, targeting its resisting sons and protectors.”
The statement further criticized the U.S. forces’ actions: “Targeting the headquarters and offices of Iraqi security entities, both within the country and at its borders, represents an unwarranted military escalation. This could broaden the ongoing conflict in Gaza and lead the region into a cycle of unending conflicts.”
“Do not think Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do.” – Surah Ibrahim: verse 42.
The Al-Dawa Islamic Party expresses its condemnation of the repeated violations of Iraq’s sovereignty recently, with the movement of hostile aircraft in its skies, targeting its resisting sons and protectors. This has provoked annoyance and anger on the Iraqi street. Indeed, targeting the headquarters and offices of the Iraqi security entities by the U.S. forces in the depth of the country and on the border is an unjustifiable military escalation, and it will contribute to expanding the scope of the imposed war on Gaza and drag the region into a vortex of endless conflicts.
While we refuse to allow Iraq and its land to be a battleground for these regional and international conflicts, we once again express our condemnation of any attack on any part of Iraq. We urge the government to promptly initiate a dialogue for a legally approved agreement in the parliament to schedule the withdrawal of foreign forces based on specific timeframes. We call on all national political powers and all stakeholders in this sensitive national issue to bear their responsibilities in this regard by cooperating with the government and giving the involved parties the opportunity to find a way out of this crisis. If it worsens, it would undermine the general security and stability in the country and region, and threaten the future of our entire political system.
