Heat rebounds in the north with Kirkuk and Duhok up three degrees

BAGHDAD — Temperatures are rising again across northern Iraq on Wednesday, with Kirkuk, Erbil and Duhok all three degrees up on Tuesday, while Basra reaches 45°C, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said.

Dhi Qar is forecast at 44°C, Karbala, Maysan, Najaf and Muthanna at 43°C, and Salah al-Din, Diwaniyah and Babil at 42°C. Baghdad, Nineveh, Anbar, Diyala, Wasit and Kirkuk are expected to reach 41°C. In the Kurdistan Region, Erbil is forecast at 39°C and Sulaymaniyah and Duhok at 37°C.

Skies will be mostly clear with some cloud over the Kurdistan Region. Northwesterly winds are forecast at 20 to 30 km/h, reaching 45 km/h in eastern parts of the centre and south and raising light dust in desert areas, with calm periods in parts of the north. Visibility will be 8 to 10 km, falling to 5 to 7 km where dust is blowing.
