Drones target KRG prime minister’s office and intelligence chief’s home
ERBIL — Two explosive drones struck the private office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the home of the head of the Parastin intelligence agency in Pirmam district early on Monday, the Kurdistan Region’s Counter-Terrorism Directorate said. No one was hurt.
The drones, identified as Hadid-110 models, were launched from the Iranian side of the border at 12:28 a.m., the directorate said, condemning the attack and saying those responsible would bear full responsibility for the consequences.
Barzani attributed the attack to Iran. “My personal office and the home of the head of the Security and Intelligence Agency were targeted by Iranian drone attacks earlier today,” he wrote on X, calling them reckless and unacceptable and “a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region.” He said the attacks would not deter the government from its work.
The Kurdistan Region has been hit repeatedly this year by drones and missiles, striking security sites, diplomatic facilities, civilian areas and Iranian Kurdish opposition camps.
