Najaf municipality employees arrested over alleged forged park equipment purchases
NAJAF — Iraq’s Federal Commission of Integrity announced Friday the arrest of five employees from the Kufa Municipality Directorate in Najaf on charges of falsifying documents and inflating purchase costs for playground equipment at three public parks.
A commission team from the Najaf Investigation Office uncovered irregularities in purchase transactions, including forged signatures of other employees submitted without their knowledge, and price offers and receipts that did not comply with official procedures. Investigators seized blank stamped receipts, purchase requests, price offers and stamp templates.
The arrests were carried out under a judicial warrant issued by the Najaf Investigation Court specializing in integrity cases under Articles 331-340 of the Iraqi Penal Code.
