Wet weather continues across Iraq with rain and colder temperatures
BAGHDAD — Unstable weather conditions continued across Iraq on Tuesday, bringing partly cloudy to overcast skies, chances of scattered rain showers accompanied by thunder and lightning, and a drop in temperatures, according to the General Authority for Meteorology.
A report from the authority’s forecasting department said temperatures declined compared with Monday, becoming cold to very cold during the morning and nighttime hours and cold during the day. The decrease was more pronounced in central areas, with smaller drops recorded in northern and southern regions.
Southeasterly winds were expected to blow at light to moderate speeds of 10 to 20 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 35 kilometers per hour, raising local dust. In western areas, winds were forecast to shift to northwesterly at light to moderate speeds.
Visibility was expected to range between 8 and 10 kilometers, dropping to 5 to 7 kilometers in cases of haze or dust. In areas experiencing heavier rainfall, visibility could fall to between 2 and 4 kilometers.
For Wednesday, forecasters expect generally clear weather with light rain showers in the east. Thursday is forecast to be partly cloudy with scattered rain and snowfall over mountainous areas. Cloudy conditions are expected to continue Friday with a slight rise in temperatures.
