Al-Sudani, UK ambassador discuss ties serves ‘the shared interests of both countries’

BAGHDAD– Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met on Sunday with British Ambassador to Iraq Irfan Siddiq to discuss “strengthening” bilateral relations and continued coordination amid ongoing regional tensions, according to a statement from Al-Sudani’s media office.

The meeting reviewed joint cooperation under the Strategic Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation, signed earlier this year during Al-Sudani’s visit to London. The statement said discussions aimed to serve “the shared interests of both countries.”

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today, Sunday, with the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Irfan Siddiq.

The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them across various fields in light of the Strategic Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation signed by the Prime Minister during his visit to the British capital, London, earlier this year, in a manner that serves the shared interests of both countries.

The meeting also emphasized the continued joint coordination, particularly amid the ongoing regional challenges, and the need to strengthen efforts with regional and international parties to uphold de-escalation, end the ongoing aggression on Gaza, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to its besieged population, and support efforts aimed at achieving peace, security, and stability.
