Teen fatally stabbed outside Basra school following fight with classmate, authorities say
BASRA — A 15-year-old student was fatally stabbed outside his school in Al-Dair, north of Basra, on Wednesday after a fight with a classmate escalated, according to local authorities.
The victim, identified as a ninth-year student, was attacked following a confrontation that reportedly began during school hours and intensified after school ended. As students left the premises, the classmate’s brother, believed to be under 18, approached the victim and stabbed him in the back outside the school gate.
A security source told 964media, “The fight began during school hours and escalated to a stabbing by one student’s brother outside the school.”

Police have launched an investigation and are actively searching for the suspect, who allegedly fled the scene after the attack.
This incident comes just weeks after a similar act of violence at Al-Faris Al-Arabi Evening School in Mosul’s Al-Mamoun district, where a 16-year-old student was fatally stabbed by a classmate during a fight, leaving another student critically injured.
