Final results for Kurdistan Region parliamentary elections announced by commission
ERBIL – The Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq has published the final results of the Kurdistan Region’s sixth parliamentary election, held on Oct. 20. The Kurdistan Democratic Party, one of the region’s main ruling parties, won the largest share of seats.
Omar Ahmad, head of the Electoral Commission, urged all parties to respect the outcome, calling it “the best election held since 1992” and emphasising the transparency of the process. Ahmad also reported that voter turnout reached 72.06%, equating to 2,104,368 voters casting their ballots. However, a significant number of ballots—208,000, or 9.88%—were deemed invalid.
The election was conducted across four constituencies: Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, and Halabja. Five seats were reserved for minority representatives, while 30 seats were allocated to women under the region’s gender quota system. A total of 2,898,578 individuals were eligible to vote for 100 seats in the Kurdistan parliament.

• Patriotic Union of Kurdistan: 409,548 votes (19.46%) — 23 seats

• Kurdistan Islamic Union: 117,444 votes (5.58%) — 7 seats
• Justice Group (Komal): 64,874 votes (3.08%) — 3 seats
• Halest: 56,008 votes (2.66%) — 4 seats
• Baray Gal: 33,466 votes (1.59%) — 2 seats
• Gorran Movement: 11,641 votes (0.55%) — 1 seat
• Kurdistan Region Alliance: 13,254 votes (0.63%) — 1 seat

Sulaymaniyah Constituency: (Overall seats: 38)
• Patriotic Union of Kurdistan: 257,359 votes — 15 seats
• New Generation Movement: 136,447 votes — 8 seats
• Kurdistan Democratic Party: 57,916 votes — 3 seats
• Kurdistan Islamic Union: 42,687 votes — 3 seats
• Justice Group (Komal): 36,707 votes — 2 seats
• Halwest: 29,416 votes — 2 seats
• Baray Gal: 20,355 votes — 1 seat
• Gorran Movement: 9,736 votes — 1 seat
• Kurdistan Region Alliance: 8,399 votes — 1 seat
The PUK led in Sulaymaniyah, followed by the opposition New Generation Movement. Dana Amanj Majid secured the reserved Christian seat with 6,023 votes, and Najdat Nuri Mohammed Arab won the Turkmen seat with 5,664 votes.
Erbil Constituency: (Overall seats: 34)
• Kurdistan Democratic Party: 347,786 votes — 17 seats
• Patriotic Union of Kurdistan: 111,102 votes — 6 seats
• New Generation Movement: 104,222 votes — 5 seats
• Kurdistan Islamic Union: 24,178 votes — 1 seat
• Justice Group (Komal): 20,265 votes — 1 seat
• Halwest: 16,871 votes — 1 seat
• Baray Gal: 9,776 votes — 1 seat
Rami Nuri and Mona Qahwachi secured the minority Christian and Turkmen seats with 6,753 and 3,666 votes, respectively. The KDP led in Erbil with 17 seats, followed by the PUK and New Generation Movement.
Duhok Constituency: (Overall seats: 25)
• Kurdistan Democratic Party: 402,152 votes — 18 seats
• New Generation Movement: 46,631 votes — 2 seats
• Kurdistan Islamic Union: 42,732 votes — 2 seats
• Patriotic Union of Kurdistan: 28,557 votes — 1 seat
• Halwest: 8,438 votes — 1 seat
• Justice Group (Komal): 3,687 votes — 0 seat
• Baray Gal: 2,610 votes — no seats
• Kurdistan Region Alliance: 858 votes — no seats
• Gorran Movement: 248 votes — no seats
• National Alliance: 133 votes — no seats
• Sardam: 152 votes — no seats
The KDP dominated in Duhok with 18 seats, followed by the New Generation Movement and Kurdistan Islamic Union with two seats each.
Halabja Constituency: (Overall seats: 3)
• Patriotic Union of Kurdistan: 12,530 votes — 1 seat
• Kurdistan Islamic Union: 7,847 votes — 1 seat
• Kurdistan Democratic Party: 4,940 votes — 1 seat
In Halabja, the PUK led with one seat, followed by the Kurdistan Islamic Union and KDP, each securing one seat. This distribution reflects competitive voter support in Halabja.
