NGO offers free counseling for life to orphans in Tal Afar

TAL AFAR, January 3 — An organization specializing in psychological rehabilitation hosted an educational program for dozens of orphans in the town of Tal Afar, aiming to provide psychological, intellectual, and developmental support for the children while offering free counseling services to their families.

The Baghdad-based “I Will Build Myself” team launched the program in collaboration with the Youth of Tal Afar for Sustainable Development Foundation. The event was attended by local officials and activists.

Nawara Al Zaheri, a psychology consultant told 964:

“The program was not just a three-hour event, but a comprehensive initiative for psychological and family counseling. Afterward, we maintain continuous communication with the participants to provide them with lifelong free counseling.

The program included speeches, poems, and tributes to the participants, as well as entertaining and educational portions featuring drawing, songs, competitions, and dancing.

The program’s segments aim to develop the children’s skills and help them achieve their life goals. Through drawing, the team analyzes the children’s personalities, identifies their strengths, understands the pressures they face, and addresses their family issues in collaboration with their guardians.”

Nawzat Hassan, Director of the Youth of Tal Afar for Sustainable Development Foundation, said:

“Dozens of orphans of all ages and genders from various regions participated in the program. The foundation aims to replicate these humanitarian awareness programs.

Tal Afar has witnessed violence over the past two decades, leaving thousands of orphans in desperate need of care and attention. The foundation coordinated all necessary measures to implement this program, ensuring it was well-received by everyone involved.”
