Statement
Hakim and Abbadi condemn mutual military escalation in Iraq
BAGHDAD, December 26 — On Tuesday, the National State Forces Alliance, led by Ammar Al-Hakim and Haidar Al-Abbadi, condemned the mutual military and security escalation between the United States and “Iraqi parties.” The Alliance called on both sides to refrain from the slide into chaos and disorder.
A statement by the Alliance, read:
The National State Forces Alliance strongly condemns the mutual military and security escalation between the United States and Iraqi parties, leading to a breach of sovereignty and the loss of lives. The responsible parties for this escalation bear the consequences and repercussions.
It is crucial for everyone to realize that security and stability are Iraqi, regional, and international interests. The last thing Iraq and the region need is to be dragged into the abyss of turmoil and chaos. We warn against the catastrophic consequences of mutual escalation.
We affirm that the Iraqi government and state institutions are constitutionally responsible for Iraq, its policies, positions, and interests. The government is entrusted with managing the country, and any attempt to override its will by internal or external parties will not be accepted.
All national and foreign parties are urged to respect Iraq’s sovereignty and the decisions of the elected and legitimate government. Any undermining, violation, or attack on sovereignty will harm everyone.
