Forestry police discover charcoal production area
Illegal logging operation uncovered in Sulaymaniyah
SULAYMANIYAH, December 7 — The Sulaymaniyah Forest and Environment Police have reported unauthorized logging of numerous trees in the village of Pushen, disclosing that officers confiscated a hidden coal furnace during their operation.
Police further revealed the Tanjaro Forest Police Station and department headquarters conducted two separate visits to the village of Pushen, where investigations showed evidence of tree cutting and the discovery of a concealed coal furnace used for charcoal production.
Authorities seized 12 bundles of charcoal along with a car filled with the felled logs.
Police reported the incident to the investigating judge of Sharazur distruct. An ongoing investigation, led by the Tanjaro Forest Police Station, aims to apprehend the primary suspect involved in illegal logging and the owner of the confiscated charcoal.
