Iraq temperatures to exceed 40C across 13 governorates on Tuesday
BAGHDAD — Temperatures will continue rising over the coming days, with maximums expected to exceed 40 degrees Celsius across 13 governorates on Tuesday, Iraq’s General Authority for Meteorology said Monday.
Tuesday’s forecast shows clear skies with some clouds nationwide. Highs are expected to reach 33°C in Sulaymaniyah, 34°C in Duhok, 36°C in Erbil, 37°C in Nineveh, 38°C in Kirkuk, 40°C in Salah al-Din and Anbar, 41°C in Diyala, 42°C in Baghdad, Wasit and Karbala, 43°C in Babil, Diwaniyah and Najaf, 44°C in Muthanna, Maysan and Basra, and 45°C in Dhi Qar.
Wednesday will see clear conditions with some clouds in central and southern Iraq, while northern areas face partly cloudy skies with a chance of thundershowers. Temperatures are forecast to rise slightly from Tuesday’s levels before stabilizing on Thursday. A slight decrease is expected by Friday.
