Strike kills Kataib Hezbollah commander and two others at Basra farm

BASRA — A strike on a farm in the Khor al-Zubair area along the Safwan road in Basra governorate killed a Kataib Hezbollah commander and two others Tuesday, while also destroying a radar system and rocket launch platform at the site, a security source told 964media.

The source said three projectiles struck the farm, killing the commander and two companions and wounding two people inside the house. Civil defense teams continued searching under the rubble, with Safwan district commissioner Ghassan al-Shuwaili telling 964media that preliminary findings indicate three fatalities and searches ongoing for additional bodies.

The strike follows a series of attacks on PMF-linked positions across Iraq. Earlier Tuesday, one fighter from the 45th Brigade was killed in a strike in Al-Qaim district, Anbar. On Monday, two PMF positions were struck in Nineveh and Tuz Khurmatu with no casualties reported.

Kataib Hezbollah is one of the most powerful Iran-aligned factions formally incorporated into the Popular Mobilization Forces. Neither the United States nor Israel has publicly claimed responsibility for any of the strikes on PMF-linked targets in Iraq.
