Airstrike hits PMF position in Qayyarah as attacks continue across Nineveh

NINEVEH — An airstrike hit a Popular Mobilization Forces position in Qayyarah, south of Mosul, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday with no casualties, the PMF said, the third strike on PMF positions in Nineveh in less than 24 hours.

The PMF said the headquarters of the 38th Regiment of the 58th Brigade under Nineveh Operations Command was targeted. Earlier Thursday, the PMF said the 4th Regiment of the 14th Brigade was struck twice at the same site within hours — at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday and 5:20 a.m. Thursday — also without casualties. On Wednesday evening, an airstrike killed the commando regiment commander of the 53rd Brigade and another fighter in Tal Afar.

The strikes add to a mounting toll across multiple governorates. Two fighters were killed and four wounded in a strike on Brigade 17 in Rutba district, Anbar, on Tuesday. Consecutive strikes on Habbaniyah base last week killed 22 military personnel over two days, including the PMF Anbar operations commander. The PMF says airstrikes have hit its positions across seven governorates since the regional war began Feb. 28, killing dozens of fighters. Neither the United States nor Israel has publicly claimed responsibility for any of the strikes.
