Iraqi armed group says ‘all energy stations’ could be targeted

BAGHDAD — Iran-aligned Iraqi faction Harakat al-Nujaba warned U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday that energy facilities across the region are within range of its missiles and drones, in a direct response to Trump’s ultimatum to Iran over the Strait of Hormuz.

“Let the insolent Trump know that all energy stations in the region are within range of the missiles and drones of the sons of Haidar, and an eye for an eye,” Abdul Qader al-Karbalaei, identified as the group’s military deputy, wrote on X. “Resistance fighters are people of action, not words.” Haidar is a title of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, a central figure in Shiite Islam.

The warning came after Trump posted a 48-hour ultimatum to Iran on Truth Social, threatening to target Iranian energy infrastructure, including power plants, if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has effectively restricted or disrupted commercial traffic through the waterway since the regional war began Feb. 28, pushing oil prices above $100 per barrel and severely disrupting Iraq’s southern export terminals.
