Islamic Resistance in Iraq claims 23 attacks in 24 hours

ERBIL — The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed Saturday it carried out 23 attacks over the past 24 hours, including missile and drone strikes on cities across the Kurdistan Region.

According to the group’s figures and 964media’s incident coverage, several attacks involved drones launched toward Erbil, with the group claiming it targeted Erbil International Airport, what it described as American bases, a hotel and a residential complex — both of which have civilian occupants.

The group, which says it is acting in defense of Iran, referred to the sites it struck as “enemy bases.” Many of the attacks were launched from areas described as security gaps between Iraqi army and Peshmerga units along the Kurdistan Region’s borders.

Following Friday night’s strikes, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw said the federal government bears responsibility for the attacks and called for measures to prevent further incidents.
