Iraq’s national security adviser and Kuwaiti ambassador call for dialogue
BAGHDAD — National Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Mohammed Zaman stressed Tuesday the importance of resolving the regional crisis through dialogue, as the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran continues.
Araji called for “resorting to peaceful solutions through diplomatic channels and resolving crises according to paths of dialogue and the language of wisdom and logic, to spare the region and the world the danger of an expanding conflict,” and expressed hope that “the international community will unite its efforts to find a peaceful way out of the ongoing conflict.”
The two sides discussed recent military operations that “threaten regional and international security and stability,” according to Araji’s media office.
The United States and Israel launched a joint military campaign against Iran on Feb. 28, targeting military infrastructure and leadership facilities in operations described by Washington as Epic Fury and by Israel as Lion’s Roar. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in the initial strikes, according to Iranian state media. Iran has since launched waves of missile and drone attacks on U.S. and allied bases, diplomatic missions and military infrastructure across the Middle East.
