Drone attack wounds soldier at military site in Basra
BAGHDAD — A military site in Basra was targeted Saturday by an unidentified drone attack that wounded one soldier, Iraq’s Joint Operations Command said.
“The relevant authorities immediately initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident,” the command said, without identifying the location of the site or the group responsible.
The attack is the latest in a series of incidents across Iraq on Saturday following coordinated U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran. Airstrikes hit Jurf al-Nasr in Babil, killing two people and wounding three, and missiles targeting sites near Erbil International Airport were intercepted.
