Rain, thunder expected in north of Iraq with cooler temperatures across country
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s meteorological authority on Wednesday forecast partly cloudy to cloudy conditions, with chances of light to moderate rain in the north that could intensify in the east and bring thunder and lightning.
Temperatures are expected to fall slightly in central and southern regions and hold steady in the north, with cold mornings and nights and milder daytime conditions.
Wednesday will be partly cloudy to cloudy with rain in the north strengthening at times in eastern sections. Winds will be northwesterly at 10 to 20 kph in central and southern areas, southeasterly in the east, and light and variable in the north at 5 to 10 kph. Visibility is forecast at 8 to 10 kilometers, dropping to 5 to 7 kilometers in morning haze and heavier rain.
Thursday will be clear with some clouds in central and southern areas, while the north will be cloudy with moderate rain.
Friday will bring partly cloudy conditions in central and southern areas and cloudy skies in the north with scattered showers.
Saturday will be clear with some clouds in central and southern regions, while the north remains cloudy with light rain increasing over mountainous areas. Northerly winds will pick up to about 30 kph.
Sunday calls for clear skies except in northeastern areas, where clouds and light showers are possible.
