Najaf police free kidnapped teacher after 20 days, arrest suspects
NAJAF — Police freed a kidnapping victim and arrested the suspects in a security operation Thursday, the Najaf Police Command said.
The victim, Bassim Mohammed Abadi, a mathematics teacher and restaurant owner, had been abducted about 20 days earlier while on his way to work, a security source told 964media.
The source said the operation was conducted “through the efforts of the Meshkhab Intelligence Office and supporting forces.”
The police command said the rescue was carried out “under the direct supervision of the Najaf police chief” through “an intelligence-led security effort.”
Investigations are ongoing to determine the motives and circumstances of the abduction.
