Pregnant woman dies after fall at Sharazoor factory
SULAYMANIYAH — A pregnant 29-year-old woman died Sunday after falling from a height while working at a factory in Sharazoor district in Sulaymaniyah governorate, local health officials said.
The incident occurred before noon on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, at a factory in the district, according to information obtained by 964media. The woman was working at a water-related industrial facility when she fell during the course of her work.
Kamal Kak Ahmad, media officer at Shahid Raouf Beg Hospital, told 964media that “a woman was brought to our hospital with injuries after falling from a height while working at one of the factories in Sharazoor district.”
He said medical teams acted immediately. “Our teams began treating her injuries right away, and she had internal bleeding,” Ahmad said. “But due to the severity of her injuries, she died.”
Hospital and family sources identified the woman by the initials “K.R.A.” and said she was 29 years old. She was pregnant and had another child.
Ahmad said the woman survived only briefly after arrival. “After staying for a few minutes in the hospital, she died,” he said, adding that “her body was transferred to the forensic medicine department in Sulaymaniyah.”
No further details were released about the circumstances of the fall or whether an investigation has been opened.
