Rain, snow expected as wet week continues

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s weather will remain unstable in the coming days, with varying conditions across regions, including rainfall, fog, dust, and possible snowfall in mountainous areas, the General Authority for Meteorology reported Thursday.

According to the agency’s daily bulletin, central and southern regions will experience partly cloudy skies, while the north will see cloudier conditions with moderate rain showers expected. Snowfall is also forecast for high-elevation areas, accompanied by widespread fog formation.

Temperatures are expected to drop slightly, with very cold nighttime conditions prevailing in most cities.

Winds will be light and variable at 5–10 km/h, except in western areas where they will shift to light to moderate northwesterlies.

Visibility will range from 8 to 10 km but is expected to decrease to 4–6 km in the morning due to haze, and to below 1 km in fog-prone areas.
