More foggy mornings due for much of Iraq
BAGHDAD — Iraq will be affected Sunday by a high-pressure system centered over Turkey, bringing generally clear to partly cloudy conditions, dense morning fog in limited northern areas, and very cold weather during the morning and night in central and northern regions, the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismology said.
The authority’s forecasting department said the weather will be mostly clear with intermittent clouds, becoming partly cloudy at night. Dense fog is expected to form during the morning hours in parts of the northern region before gradually dissipating later in the day.
Daytime temperatures will be similar to the previous day in central and northern regions, while dropping by a few degrees in the southern region. Morning and nighttime conditions will be very cold, particularly in central and northern areas, with the possibility of frost forming in agricultural and desert areas.
Winds will be northwesterly and moderate, with speeds ranging between 20 and 30 kilometers per hour. Horizontal visibility will generally range from 8 to 10 kilometers, decreasing during the morning due to haze to between 5 and 7 kilometers.
For Monday, the forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with light to moderate northwesterly winds. Temperatures are expected to remain similar in central and southern regions and rise slightly in the northern region, with visibility ranging from 6 to 8 kilometers.
On Tuesday, conditions are expected to be clear to partly cloudy, with light to moderate northwesterly winds and a slight increase in temperatures compared to the previous day. Visibility is forecast to range between 6 and 8 kilometers.
Weather on Wednesday and Thursday is expected to remain clear with some clouds, light to moderate northwesterly winds, and generally stable temperatures, with horizontal visibility continuing between 6 and 8 kilometers.
