Police arrest suspects in Baghdad wanted for terror and antiques trafficking

BAGHDAD, November 9 — Officials from the Intelligence and Security Directorate in Baghdad said units arrested two individuals on Thursday, wanted on charges of terrorism and antiquities trafficking in Taji district and Al-Sayyidiah area in the capital.

A statement from the Ministry of Defense said:

“In separate missions and through intensive field monitoring, the Intelligence and Security Directorate in Baghdad, under the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security at the Ministry of Defense, successfully apprehended two wanted individuals for prosecution on charges of terrorism and antiquities trafficking in the Taji district and Al-Sayyidiah area in Baghdad. Arrest warrants were issued against them under Articles 4 Terrorism, 44 Antiquities.

One of the suspects was found in possession of an antique plate and seals. The seized items were confiscated, and the suspects were referred to the relevant investigative authorities to complete the necessary procedures against them.”
