Interior Ministry denies reports of attack on senior residency official’s home

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Interior Ministry on Monday denied social media reports claiming that the home of Brig. Ahmed al-Kanani, director of Residency and Passports at Baghdad International Airport, had been targeted.

In a statement, the ministry said some online platforms circulated claims about “an attack on the home of Brig. Ahmed al-Kanani, director of Residency and Passports at Baghdad International Airport by unknown parties.”

It said the information was incorrect. “After follow-up and verification, we clarify that these reports are false and have no basis in truth,” the ministry stated.
