Clear skies and cool mornings forecast across Iraq
BAGHDAD — The General Authority for Meteorology and Seismology issued a report Thursday forecasting clear skies across most of Iraq through the coming days, with mild daytime conditions and cold mornings.
The authority said the weather is influenced by a surface high-pressure system centered over the eastern Mediterranean and Turkey, combined with a low-pressure system extending from the Arabian Peninsula. It noted that scattered clouds are expected in limited areas.
According to the report, temperatures will remain similar to Wednesday’s readings, with a slight decrease in the central region. The authority said mornings will be cold while afternoons will be moderate, and mountain areas will continue to experience cooler weather.
Winds will be northwesterly, light to moderate, at speeds between 10 and 20 kilometers per hour, with occasional calm periods.
Satellite imagery showed stable weather across Iraq on Thursday, and forecasts indicate clear skies continuing through early next week in central, southern and northern regions.
