Al-Sudani leads Iraq’s delegation to Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit
NEWSROOM — Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani is leading Iraq’s delegation to the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, held Monday in the Egyptian resort city, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein is accompanying Sudani at the summit, which brings together regional and international leaders.
U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to attend and co-chair the summit with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, marking it as a major diplomatic event. Trump will travel to Egypt after visiting Israel, where he plans to meet families of Israeli captives and deliver a speech in the Knesset.
The summit will gather more than 20 leaders, including European, Arab, and Asian heads of state, to discuss a lasting ceasefire, future governance of Gaza, and plans for reconstruction.

The Prime Minister, Mr. Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, is participating in the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace, heading the delegation of the Republic of Iraq to the summit being held today in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Fuad Hussein.
This participation comes in response to a joint invitation extended by the Governments of the United States of America and the Arab Republic of Egypt, to discuss regional and international efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza, achieving a permanent ceasefire, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians, and launching a political process that contributes to consolidating security and stability in the region.
A number of leaders and representatives from regional and global states are taking part in the summit, within the framework of joint efforts to enhance regional and international security.
