Two drivers arrested in fatal Ramadi hit-and-run

ANBAR — Police in Anbar announced Saturday the arrest of two drivers accused of running over and killing a student while racing their vehicles at high speed on 60 Street in Ramadi.

Anbar Police said in a statement, “Security forces in Anbar Governorate arrested the suspects involved in the hit-and-run that killed student Karar Haidar Ali Al-Jaberi. The incident occurred three days ago on 60 Street in Ramadi, when the drivers, both operating Kia cargo trucks, were racing recklessly before hitting the victim and fleeing the scene.”

The statement added, “Under the direct supervision of the Anbar Police Commander, a special task force was formed to follow up on the case and collect information about the perpetrators. The security efforts were successful, and the drivers were arrested today after a precise pursuit that lasted several days.”

Anbar Police confirmed that the suspects have been placed in detention pending legal procedures, stressing that “justice will take its course and the lives of citizens are a red line that cannot be crossed.”
