Five-year-old girl killed in Sulaymaniyah after being hit by a minibus

SULAYMANIYAH — A five-year-old girl died Thursday after being struck by a minibus outside her home in the Raparin neighborhood of Qaladze, local hospital officials said.

Rasti Khidr, head of Qaladze Hospital’s emergency department, told 964media, “Around 12:00 today, a five-year-old girl with injuries was brought to the emergency unit. She later died due to the severity of her injuries. After examination, her body was handed over to her family.”

Khidr said the child had just arrived home from kindergarten and was walking behind the minibus when the driver, reversing, did not see her and struck her.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
