Officials pledge 'transparency'
Kirkuk opens 7,200 public sector contract jobs
KIRKUK – Governor Rebwar Taha and Council Chairman Mohammed Ibrahim al-Hafiz on Thursday announced the launch of 7,200 new contract job openings in Kirkuk’s government departments, with applications set to begin Tuesday through a dedicated electronic portal.
During a press conference attended by 964media, Taha emphasized that the application process will be strictly digital and centralized. “The instructions will be published, and the electronic link will be ready from Tuesday morning,” he said. “There is no office or entity outside the governorate building authorized to receive names or deal with applicants. Everything related to these appointments is through this link only. No offices, no parties, no individuals.”
He added that application results would be published transparently following the close of the process.
Al-Hafiz said the positions were “a right for the people of Kirkuk” and underscored efforts to ensure the jobs reach eligible residents. “The time of selling jobs is over,” he said. “Do not be misled by electoral propaganda. These jobs are for the rightful beneficiaries of Kirkuk’s citizens.”
He added that instructions from the Ministry of Finance would be issued alongside the application process. Al-Hafiz also noted that additional job opportunities will become available soon through the BP Company employment office, which is set to open next month at the governorate headquarters.
Beyond employment, the council chairman referenced other entitlements under discussion with the federal government, including housing allocations for employees and benefits for journalists. “Everyone will take their share, as we promised,” he said.
