Iraq’s ministry of industry expands solar energy system production and installation
BAGHDAD, November 1 — The Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced on Wednesday the production and implementation of solar energy systems for both daytime and nighttime household and industrial uses, with a warranty of up to 10 years.
The ministry released a statement which read:
The General Company for Electrical and Electronic Industries, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, has announced its capabilities in manufacturing, implementing, and installing solar energy systems at specific locations according to the requests of beneficiaries. This initiative aligns with central directives to support electrical energy and reduce carbon emissions.
Mr. Sufian Fawzi Shaalan, the company’s General Manager, mentioned that the Renewable Energy Factory in Al-Az is specialized in producing solar energy systems for both daytime and nighttime use, with capacities ranging from 1 kilowatt to 5 kilowatts. He highlighted the company’s expertise in selecting system components, ensuring high efficiency and long operational life, as well as suitability for Iraqi environmental conditions, including dust and heat. The systems also feature a special exterior cover and a design that takes into account the negative effects of heat. The solar panels come with a 10-year warranty, while other system components are covered for one year. The company also conducts training sessions for consumers on how to maintain the system and increase energy production.
The company has executed many of these systems for government institutions, such as the Basic Education College at Al-Mustansiriya University, with a capacity of 5 kilowatts. Additionally, they have manufactured systems for artesian wells and water sterilization in remote areas lacking access to electrical power. The company possesses highly skilled and experienced engineering and technical staff capable of implementing these systems on-site according to demand. The company is also recognized as a testing authority for renewable energy equipment and devices. Mr. Shaalan disclosed that an investment opportunity has been announced to establish a solar cell production plant to further enhance the company’s capabilities in the renewable energy sector.
