Project reportedly making significant progress

Iraqi ministry reports 88 percent progress on Baghdad-Diyala road project

BAQUBAH, November 1 — The Ministry of Construction and Housing, along with the General Directorate of Roads and Bridges, reported on Wednesday that repair and maintenance on the road from Baghdad to Diyala, a part of the Baghdad-Kirkuk highway, is making significant progress, with some 88 percent of the project already completed

A statement from the ministry read:

The project, which extends for approximately 10 kilometers from the Qusay Abu Shamm area to the intersection of Mohammed Al-Sikran, has been widened from 10 meters to 16 meters, providing two lanes for inbound and outbound traffic. In addition, a service road has been constructed on both sides of the main road. This work included laying three layers of asphalt, installing safety guardrails and signage, as well as the construction of three vehicle bridges, two pedestrian bridges, and an entrance to the Victory Village.

The project’s construction is advancing with the resolution of conflicts, adjusting the side slopes, and preparing for the final polymer-enhanced road surface. Concrete work for the bridges has been completed, and work on the approaches to the three bridges continues, using precast concrete pieces for retaining walls to enhance the architectural aesthetics of the bridges.
