Donors cover costs of meals and supplies
Al-Aziziya school initiates programs to support needy students at new facility
WASIT, October 31 — In celebration of their new school building, the administration of the Yanabe’ Al-Ilm (Springs of Knowledge) Elementary School on the outskirts of Al-Aziziya launched several initiatives to encourage and motivate their students. These initiatives include free daily meals and equipping needy students with supplies and clothing.
The school, located in Al-Khamas district, enrolls 350 students who receive daily meals provided by the school. These meals include various pastries, juices, and fruits.
Ahmed Thamer Hamdan, the school’s principal, told 964, “Our school has transformed from a caravan into a proper building this year, and this has had a profound psychological impact on both our staff and students. We have provided students from economically disadvantaged families with clothing, stationery, and comprehensive supplies to motivate them to stay in school and improve their academic performance.”
“The daily cost of meals is between 150,000 to 200,000 Iraqi dinars and is covered by the school’s staff and some generous donors. Additionally, local businesses provide substantial discounts on meal supplies,” he added.
Residents of Al-Aziziya and Al-Khamas have responded positively to the initiative, and the school now receives both financial and in-kind donations. Recently, the school received a donation of decorative plants from a local tribal leader to increase green spaces within the school.
