Slight temperature drop forecast for Iraq

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Meteorological Authority reported Wednesday that the country remains under the influence of a surface low-pressure system, with hot and clear conditions prevailing in the central and southern regions during the day, while the north, especially the Kurdistan Region, experiences milder weather with scattered clouds.

The report said temperatures dropped slightly compared to Tuesday, decreasing by 1–2 degrees Celsius.

Winds are northwesterly at moderate speed (20–30 km/h), strengthening in the southern region and eastern parts of the center during daylight hours, with gusts reaching 45 km/h. These conditions may cause localized dust and sandstorms, particularly in desert areas. Wind intensity is expected to weaken gradually in the evening and at night.

Horizontal visibility is estimated at 8–10 km, dropping to 3–5 km in areas affected by dust before improving later in the day.
