Motorcycle crash in Said Sadiq kills one, injures two
SULAYMANIYAH — One person was killed and two others injured Tuesday in a collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle in central Said Sadiq district, local health officials said.
Barzan Khalid of Shaheed Shawkat Haji Mushir General Hospital told 964media that one body and two injured individuals were received following the incident.
The motorcycle driver died at the scene, while the passenger and the pickup driver sustained injuries. Khalid said the body will be transferred to the Sulaymaniyah Forensic Medicine Department, and the injured will be moved to Sulaymaniyah for further treatment after receiving initial care.
Traffic accidents remain a leading cause of deaths in Sulaymaniyah. In the first half of 2024, officials reported 111 fatalities. The Traffic Directorate recorded 1,047 incidents in 2023, resulting in 153 deaths and 1,887 injuries.
