RPG training accident at Sulaymaniyah military college kills cadet, injures three
SULAYMANIYAH — An RPG explosion during training at Qalacholan Military College in Sulaymaniyah killed one cadet and injured three others on Tuesday, officials said.
An officer from the Qalacholan command told 964media the blast occurred during a live-fire exercise when an RPG round detonated, killing one student and wounding three.
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense confirmed the incident, saying the injured cadets were transferred to hospital for treatment. “Three of them recovered after receiving medical care, while the fourth student died of his severe wounds and will be transferred by air to Baghdad,” the ministry said in a statement.
It added that an investigation had been launched “to determine the causes and circumstances of the explosion, to take the necessary measures to prevent its recurrence in the future, and to hold accountable those responsible for any shortcomings.”
