Tanker collision in Garmian kills one, injures another

KALAR — A collision between two tankers on the Kalar bypass in Sulaymaniyah’s Garmian Administration killed one driver and injured another on Wednesday, according to the Garmian Traffic Directorate.

The crash occurred on Aug. 27 when a tanker heading toward Kalar and a another tanker traveling in the opposite direction collided. One of the drivers, born in 1985, died at the scene. The other driver, born in 1983, was seriously injured.

Authorities said the injured driver was initially treated at Shahid Hejar Emergency Hospital before being transferred to Sulaymaniyah due to the severity of his condition.

The traffic directorate said an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
