Coordination Framework stresses parliamentary election will proceed as planned

BAGHDAD — The Coordination Framework held its regular meeting in Baghdad with the participation of the prime minister Al-Sudani, discussing various topics, including the upcoming parliamentary elections.

In a statement after the meeting, the Framework affirmed “its determination to move forward in preparing for the upcoming legislative elections and holding them on schedule in accordance with constitutional timelines.”

The sixth term of Iraq’s parliament will be elected on Nov. 11, 2025. Campaigning is scheduled to begin on Oct. 9.

It also commended preparatory measures taken by the government, relevant authorities, and the election commission, saying they “strengthen confidence in the electoral process and ensure its integrity and transparency.”

The Coordination Framework is a coalition of Shia political parties that leads the current government.

The Framework affirmed its determination to move forward in preparing for the upcoming legislative elections and holding them on schedule in accordance with constitutional timelines.

The Framework commended all preparatory measures undertaken by the government, the relevant authorities, and the commission in a way that strengthens confidence in the electoral process and ensures its integrity and transparency.

The Framework is monitoring developments related to the water file and affirms its support for Iraq’s commitment to strategic agreements and joint understandings in this field, and moving forward with the establishment of major water desalination plants and related service projects.

The Framework praised the government’s policy of opening up to major global energy companies and signing important agreements as part of diversifying energy export sources.

The Framework stressed the importance of transitioning in the security field to solid bilateral partnerships with the concerned countries in a way that enhances Iraq’s stability and regional standing.
