Interior minister observes police training at ‘Dublin’ school in Iraq

BAGHDAD, October 29 — The “Dublin” Specialized Training School for Federal Police in Iraq hosted special training exercises on Sunday for the Federal Police on riot control and hostage rescue. The training was attended by the Interior Minister, Abdul Amir al-Shammari, and several foreign advisers and leaders.

A statement from the Ministry of Interior, received by Network 964, reported:

“The Interior Minister, Mr. Abdul Amir al-Shammari, inspected the new officers from the 53rd High Officers Course and the returning trainees from specialized training courses at the ‘Dublin’ Special Training School for Federal Police. He was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Federal Security, the Federal Police Commander, and several leaders and advisers in the Ministry.

Among these courses was a course on ‘Riot Control’ for officers and trainees. The Interior Minister directed the participants in this course to handle demonstrations responsibly, respect human rights, and prevent any trespassing on public and private property. In the event of such incidents, they should deal with them gradually using preventive measures.

This school provides training for former police officers on combat arts, raids, counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and dealing with suspicious situations at checkpoints.”
