Transport Ministry denies hike in Iraq–Lebanon airfare

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Ministry of Transport on Saturday denied reports of higher ticket prices for flights between Iraq and Lebanon, saying fares remain unchanged and can be verified through Iraqi Airways’ official channels.

“The media office of the Ministry of Transport confirms the inaccuracy of what has been circulated on some social media platforms regarding ticket prices between Iraq and Lebanon,” the ministry said. “The information is not accurate and does not rely on an official source.”

According to the statement, the official round-trip fare between Iraq and Beirut is 471,000 Iraqi dinars (about $336), not the $505 claimed. Prices, it said, can be confirmed on the company’s website or at accredited offices.

“All tickets sold through the company’s Beirut office were sold at the official price listed in the Amadeus system without any increase, and no official complaint has been received documenting the sale of tickets at a different price,” the ministry said.

It added that any documented complaint showing overcharging “will prompt immediate action in accordance with applicable regulations.”
