Electrician dies from electric shock while working in Topzawa village

KIRKUK — A 23-year-old electrician died Wednesday after being electrocuted while on the job in the village of Topzawa, part of the Yaychi subdistrict in Kirkuk Governorate, according to local sources.

Sami Taha, a witness and neighbor of the deceased, told 964media the man was identified as Mahmoud Younis, a resident of Jadida village in the nearby Taza subdistrict. Younis had been providing residential electrical services in the area for several years.

He was working on-site in Topzawa when the fatal accident occurred. Authorities transferred his body to the forensic medicine department in Kirkuk for further examination.

“Mahmoud was planning to get married soon, but unfortunately he didn’t live to see it,” Taha said.
