Three others injured

Two killed in cargo truck collision on Kirkuk-Salah Al-Din road

KIRKUK — Two people were killed and three others injured in a traffic accident on the road between Kirkuk and Salah Al-Din, local traffic officials said Thursday.

Moayad Abbas, head of the Salah Al-Din traffic police, told 964media the crash involved a head-on collision between two cargo trucks, one heading from Salah Al-Din toward Kirkuk and the other traveling in the opposite direction.

He said preliminary findings indicated excessive speed was the main cause of the collision.

“One of the victims was the driver,” Abbas said. “Three other passengers were seriously injured.”

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and authorities have launched an investigation into the crash.
