Duhok exports over 17,000 tons of crops in first five months of 2025
DUHOK — Duhok Governorate exported more than 17,000 tons of agricultural products to central and southern Iraq during the first five months of 2025, according to data released by the local agriculture directorate.
Ahmad Jamil, general director of agriculture in Duhok, told 964media that 17,094 tons of produce were shipped between January 2 and May 31. The exports included potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelons, melons, peaches, and other crops.
In May alone, Duhok exported 11,865 tons of agricultural goods from the districts of Sheikhan, Bardarash, Akre, and Semel. Potatoes accounted for the majority of the volume, exceeding 9,000 tons. Cucumbers followed with nearly 2,000 tons, along with 773 tons of onions.
From January to October last year, the governorate exported nearly 225,000 tons of agricultural goods to other parts of Iraq.
Duhok is known for its diverse agricultural production and has supported initiatives aimed at boosting local output and reducing reliance on imported produce. A 5,000-square-meter facility is currently planned to support the collection and marketing of locally grown products.
