Light dust and heat persist as thermal low continues to affect Iraq

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Meteorological Authority said Saturday that the country remains under the influence of a seasonal thermal low pressure system, bringing clear skies and dry air across most regions.

The forecast noted light dust activity, particularly in central and southern areas. Winds are expected from the northwest at light to moderate speeds between 10 to 20 kilometers per hour, potentially increasing to 30 to 40 kilometers per hour during the day, which could raise dust levels in affected regions.

Temperatures are expected to dip slightly in central and northern parts of the country, while conditions in the south will remain relatively stable.

Horizontal visibility is forecast to range between six and eight kilometers under normal conditions but could drop to between two and four kilometers in areas experiencing dust.
